TERMS and CONDITIONS. (Engine replacement or rebuild).

CAR ENGINES LIMITED hereby provides the following terms and conditions applying to the replacement and/or re-building of engines. Confirmation of an order to carry out a replacement / rebuild will carry the presumption that the customer has read and accepted these terms and conditions. We therefore strongly recommend that customers read them and contact us for clarification of any part of these terms and conditions that remain unclear to them.

(1) Our price list carries the prices for the engine only which comprises the cylinder head, block, sump and all components internal to these. The price is subject to V.A.T. at the statutory rate applicable at the time of completion of the job.

(2) All existing peripherals such as the water pump, clutch, pulleys, hoses, the distributor, plug leads, starter motor, alternator, etc will be reconnected to the replaced or rebuilt engine on the presumption that they are in serviceable order.

(3) Where a replacement engine is supplied, the presumption is that the engine taken from the customer’s vehicle is re-serviceable. This is to say that the customer’s original engine is in such a condition that it can be re-built for re-use. Where this “serviceable exchange” requirement is not met, an extra charge will apply.

(4) It is stated here for further clarity that where a customer’s original engine is being rebuilt, this can only be done if the engine is in a condition from which such rebuilding is practicable. Engines which, for example, have cracked or broken cylinder head casting, engine block casting and crankshaft will not be considered to be practical to rebuild.

(5) Our guarantee against defect in construction and installation of engines with for all makes and models is 1 year or 12,000 miles whichever is the sooner. applies on the strict condition that the complete installation and all service is carried out at the recommended intervals of time or mileage is carried out by Car Engines Limited. Any such work carried out by other parties will render the guarantee null and void.

(6) In situations where the customer withdraws his or her order for replacement or rebuilding of an engine or gear box, a charge will be applied for the works already carried out at the time of withdrawal or cancellation of the order. The engine will be returned to the customer in the state it is at the time and no further assembly or installation work will be carried out unless paid for separately by the customer.

(7) All the above conditions apply to gear box replacements and rebuilds as well as engines.
